Speed and Power

You will get the best performance when connecting the Liztek docking station to USB 3.0 on a personal computer. It allows the rate of data transfer at a super speed of up to 5 Gbps between the 3.0 USB docks ports and components and the computer. You will be able to play on 1080p a full-motion video when it is attached to the video ports of the docks. One other feature this Universal Docking Station provides is the Gigabit Ethernet network access using the network adapter of the dock without any bottleneck. You will be able to get access to files and open them in a matter of seconds on the external drives. These external drives are connected to the USB 3.0 ports of the docking station. The product can also be connected to the USB 2.0 port of the computer. This is possible by the connection of docking station and the computer.

The Liztek Universal Docking Station has four-amp supply of power that provides the devices the current for connecting the devices powered by buses. They can be connected to USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports such as the additional USB graphics adapters or flash drives. However this unit does not provide any charging facility. There is no functionality for recharging the iPods, iPads, smartphones, and tablets via any USB ports.

Integrated Chipsets

The docking station gets its power from DisplayLink DL-3900 chipset and is able to manage audio output, Gigabit Ethernet Functions, and dual graphics. The function integration leads to a single chipset which means very few internal components need to be connected together and that leads to increased overall reliability and compatibility. From the updates of the Windows, you will the drivers are installed automatically on detecting the presence of internet connection as soon as the docking station is connected. You will also get a driver CD that comes along the package in the box.

You can mirror or even extend your Windows desktop with a monitor that is connected to Liztek Universal Docking Station. With the technology of DisplayLink, central processor of the computer and its graphics handles the processing part of the graphics. The drivers of DisplayLink compress and transmit the pixels to the DL-3900 chipset and further resulting in decoding the data and displaying it.

The Liztek Universal Docking Station is primarily used in conjunction with the other Plugables and the USB graphics adapter to add extra monitors. It should be kept in mind that the graphics adapters will not be powered by the DisplayLink Technology and will not be used on the computer at the same time with the Liztek lapdock. Non-DisplayLink USB grahics adapters’ drivers need to be uninstalled from the PC.

The internal components of USB 3.0 and the two extra ports will be managed by the chipset VIA VL811 while the USB controller 2.0 for the four USB ports 3.0 uses the Terminus technology. The devices of USB 3.0 will be connected to USB ports 3.0 for the best functionality. But the 2.0/1.1 USB devices will not be connected to any of the six USB ports.

AMD CPU or Dual Core Intel, 2 GHz. Windows GPU should be AMD, Intel, or Nvidia.

HDMI TV Compatibility
The Liztek lapdock supports HDMI through 1.3 standard. If you want to use the TV with the help of the docking station, your TV must have the capacity to support the features of the EDID. This is extended display identification standard for communicating the capabilities of the monitor to a PC. There are many TVs having the VGA port in addition to the HDMI port assume that computers will utilize VGA rather than utilizing HDMI for connectivity. In such cases, the connection of VGA from the internal card of the PC to a TV may help in presenting the best results.

Performance tuning

If in case the user is facing the problem of slow speed or latency on Liztek Universal Docking Station connected display –

1. It is important to ensure that USB 3.0 port is connected to the adapter on the computer.

2. Play videos and 3D games on a display that is not connected to the USB if 3.0 is not available.

3. When everything else is right, the resolution of the monitor screen that is connected to the USB via the Windows display control panel should be reduced.

USB to HDMI graphics Adapter card such as the Liztek Universal Docking Station are virtual where CPU performs the crucial tasks. It is done by connecting into the graphics stack. The API of the DirectX that is utilized by the gameassumes the direct access of the hardware such as a PCI graphics card. The drivers of the DisplayLink emulate maximum possible functionality and that is why this 3D functionality works.

It is not recommended to run games using the USB graphics and this is because the emulation is not perfect. And even if the compatibility is neglected, the performance will always pose to be a bigger challenge. The extra work of CPU that is necessary for USB graphics may cause reduced problems and frame rates. Normal use of the application and the desktop are fine because they push the system such as a 3D game does.

These are some of the common problems one faces while running a game on the USB graphics adapter –
1. Game crashing

2. Game not launching

3. Screen going back

4. Screen flickering
